First day of a busy week

August 6, 2012

We’re off to London today … to see Camila. No not that one, but the remarkable and inspiring Camila Batmanghelidj. Hope and I met her in London at the marvellous BritMumsLive conference a month or so back, Camila had a huge impact on me in terms of her passion, forthright determination and sense of fun, and on Hope in the shape of a marvellous pink lip print.

Since then I’ve been looking at the remarkable work of Kids Company, the second of the two charities Camila has set up supporting vulnerable inner city children and engendering the joy of childhood.

So … we’re up early and ready to battle the hoards at Cambridge station (and I’m sure Kings Cross) and then walk down to her office to find out more about what goes on there, and also to learn more of a remarkable lady – who was still living in Teheran the same time I was there as a child visiting my father.

Today we have the push chair to do battle with the Olympian crowds … tomorrow at Olympic Park, Hope will be a babe in arms … it’s going to be an exhilarating if a little exhausting couple of days I think but Hope spent yesterday afternoon being very zen sitting up in the garden looking very intently at the grass … so we’re all ready for it!!
