“look Mummy look…”

May 20, 2014

The words you don’t want to hear when you’re driving along a bit of road you can’t stop on and your daughter is sitting in her car seat in the back, “look Mummy, look a SPIDER, hello spider, spider Hopey friend Mummy, bye bye spider, spider come to see you Mummy”

I wonder if I can train her to get rid of her new friends … not that keen on them myself, and slightly alarmed that when we got back to Granby’s house and I asked her where the aforementioned arachnid was, she said, “spider gone over there” and pointed toward the steering wheel … so I may yet encounter it in the morning …

must not pass my fear on to a small girl

must not pass my fear on to a small girl

must not pass my fear on to a small girl

must not pass my fear on to a small girl

must not pass my fear on to a small girl

it’s not as if it could be poisonous or anything …

I can’t even watch them on David Attenborough type nature programmes … just thinking about them has me all jumpy with my leg hair standing on end …

how on earth am I not to pass my fear on to a small girl?

Grits teeth in mental preparation for our journey in the morning …

Show her how much fun it is to Hoover them up? Actually, I taught my two how cool it is to catch them in a glass and very carefully put them outside. I think they have finally sussed I can’t stand spiders but it’s taken 20 years of careful bluffing!!
